Technical notes:Gas Buffer Tank
A gas buffer tank sits on a compressor discharge or gas supply line to absorb flow and pressure fluctuations so downstream equipment gets a steady supply. HUNG JUNG has built a 165 m³ gaseous oxygen buffer tank and a 187 m³ buffer tank, as well as nitrogen, natural gas and n-hexane buffer tanks.
- Typical applications
- Industrial gas plants (oxygen, nitrogen)
- Nitrogen systems in semiconductor and petrochemical plants
- Natural gas and process gases
- Common materials
- SA-516 Gr.70
- SA-240 304/304L
- A841
- Applicable codes
- ASME BPVC Section VIII, Division 1 (U designator)
- Taiwan Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety Rules and Construction Standards
- High-pressure gas regulations (where applicable)
FAQ
How large a buffer tank can HUNG JUNG build?
The largest single vessels in our references are a 165 m³ gaseous oxygen buffer tank and a 187 m³ buffer tank. Our plant has 60-ton overhead cranes for fabricating and handling large vessels.
How is buffer volume sized?
From compressor capacity, the allowable pressure swing and downstream demand variation. Send these conditions and our engineers will evaluate the size.
